Thrift Store

group shot leaderOur Community Thrift Store is open for business offering gently used, exceptional quality merchandise at low prices.  A unique partnership between the Surrey Hospice Society and the Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society ensures that all net income of the store is used to benefit the citizens of Surrey.

Donations of items in good condition can be dropped off at the store during business hours and at other times clothing items, linens and bedding can be placed in the drop-off bins located adjacent to the store’s side door. Clothing items, linens and bedding can also be left in drop-off bins located at most fire halls in Surrey.  We pride ourselves in providing top quality items at low thrift store prices in a clean and friendly atmosphere.  Check us out for all your thrift store shopping.   Click Here – See Article about our Volunteers

Acceptable Items

Thinking about downsizing or doing a big clean out? Here are a few tips to help you with that sometimes-enormous task. Start with doing one space at a time – that way you are not overwhelmed. Anything that you think is worn, dirty, cracked or unusable – throw out. Keep like items together – it helps you to be sure of what you are giving away. Put glasses, dishes, and any other breakable items in boxes for transportation.  And remember to recycle as much as you can.  We at the thrift store have seen possibly everything you can imagine. We don’t mind taking your items that you have tried to sell at your garage sale, but we ask that you remove prices from those items. It takes a volunteer twice as long to get an item ready to be sold in the store when they have to remove sticky and sometimes very hard to remove tags from items.

Here is a list of items that we take at the store:

  • Clothing
  • Shoes, boots, purses, backpacks, small suitcases
  • Books, dvd’s, videos
  • Jewelry, china, crystal, vases, cookware, lamps
  • Small kitchen appliances ie: toasters, crock pots, kettles, etc
  • Ornaments, knick knacks, silk flowers, collectibles
  • Linen, towels, decorative pillows, pictures, mirrors
  • Bedside tables, small 3 or 4 drawer dressers (must be in good condition)
  • Small book cases

Due to safety issues and the inability to test properly we do not accept the following items:

  • Toys, baby high chairs, cribs, strollers,
  • Wired in lights, computers, TV’s, microwaves,
  • Exercise equipment

Due to lack of space, no large pieces of furniture are accepted.

This is just a guideline of items, if you have any questions, just call the store and we will be happy to help you.

We are proud to say that we recycle approx 60% of items that come to us. We recycle electrical, clothing, shoes, purses, hard goods, books and a number of other items as well.
