On behalf of the board, staff and especially the families we serve at BabyGoRound Helping Families Society, I would like to thank the Surrey Fire Fighters’ Charitable Society for the donations of $7,500. This support makes it possible for us to provide essential baby gear to families during some of the most challenging times in their lives. With your support, we’ve been able to meet these growing needs, ensuring that families across Surrey and the Fraser Valley have access to the resources they need to give their children a safe and healthy start. We recently received feedback from one Surrey mother, saying: “During my first appointment, I was really bad emotionally and in other aspects, too, and the team was really kind to me and my baby. They treated us with such care, love, patience and interest that for that moment, I realized that BabyGoRound was like a breath of fresh air in the midst of suffocation. I keep that day in my heart. Thank you.” Your support is not just about providing baby gear; it’s about creating hope and security for families as they navigate uncertain times. Because of your support, we can continue to expand our reach and make a meaningful difference in the lives of the families who depend on our program.

“On behalf of the staff and students, thank you for sponsoring our school for the nutritional snack program. Our records show that, on average 20 students regularly ‘need’ to take advantage of the nutritional snack program. As you can imagine, in a school such as ours, having the means to help children with their most basic needs is critical to their overall school experience and ability to learn – we can only hope that this program will be available in subsequent years."

“With your generous support, we have launched a modest breakfast program. Under the supervision of the School Administration and a Teacher, 15 to 20 of the most needy students will be invited to come to school to have a simple breakfast of cereal toast or muffins and juice. These students will also receive help to prepare for their school day, both before and after school and hopefully make a meaningful connection to their school and education."

Dear Surrey Fire Fighters Charitable Society, I would like to express my thanks for the wonderful help you gave our weeks of summer soccer and day camps, jointly sponsored by the Southside Community Church and Living Hope Christian Fellowship. The money went a long way towards helping us give nutritious snacks and lunches for our kids. One child in particular comes to my mind, a girl in grade 5, who was obviously hungry, because of the amount of food she consumed for her age. We are looking into getting more assistance for her family, but I know there were many others who enjoyed not having to worry about food. Some of the volunteer young teen staff also cam from homes where there wasn’t enough food, so they too benefited from this. We have had the story about your charitable society from our local newspaper pinned to our bulletin board at church, with the notification of how much you have helped us. Shate through a translator, who recently arrived from Somalia and has five children attending schools in Surrey. “My oldest daughter will use it for her education and when she goes to school. Now she won’t feel left out.” “This computer will be used by my daughter for school, to learn about English, school applications, and society,” said M. Hotaki, another parent at the Welcome Centre. “Thank you very much for your help.”

Dear Surrey Firefighters, We are students from Latimer Road Elementary and we would like to thank you for making a difference! Our class read an article about the Surrey Fire Fighters School Nutritional Program and we appreciate that you are helping hungry children in our community. We are children who would like to contribute to your cause. Our class read about firefighters who donated their time, community members who donated money and companies who donated food. We felt proud and hopeful that kids in need are being cared for. After reading about the School Nutritional Program, our class talked about how we could also assist. We have decided that we would like to help out by collecting donations from our community and we could also donate snacks and drinks for you to deliver to schools. Thank you for recognizing that children require healthy meals. We are deeply grateful for people like you who bring awareness to our community and motivate others to support worthy causes. Hi there, I would just like to give a big shout out to my local Hall 8 in cloverdale. I have a little boy who is 6 years old. From the time he was 7 months old we have had the men and woman of Hall 8 attend our home, many times. Our son has a condition where he is need to emergency medical aid far too often, several times a year, sometimes a few times a month.....but the Fire department at Hall 8 always arrive within minutes, and they have been just amazing to our baby throug...hout the years. One time a couple years ago I was working downstairs in my studio, and my babysitter turned on our oven and accidently lit a pizza box that was in our oven on fire, YIKES! The fire department was dispatched due to our hard wired alarm system and Hall 8 attended.WHen they got here we had taken the box outside but our house was so smokey, and we could not get the alarm off. It was so embarrassing. The chief at that time got on the phone with the alarm company and managed to get them to shut it down and in the mean time he had his crew set up this fan system and clear the house, not once making us feel as stupid as we felt. This MORNING we made a call to get ambulance assistance to the hospital for the little guy and of course Hall 8 arrived and started their assessment. Very kind and professional, always smiling and kind. Once the paramedics arrived and took over, what I didn't know is that the fire department was checking my smoke alarms! As my little one was being loaded into the ambulance there was 2 fire fighters on a ladder installing a brand new smoke alarm in our hall that had been found expired. I was so impressed. I just wanted to say thank you, and let you know as a single mom of 3 boys, knowing we are so close to the very hard working men and woman of Hall 8, its a great comfort and relief to know they are here for me and my boys. I am currently studying sociology at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. As a daughter of a single mother this award means everything to me. I wish to become a Social Worker in the future, to help those in need and help contribute to the improval of my community and society, and this award will help me do this. I am currently a student at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in the Legal Administrative Studies program. In April, I will begin a three-week practicum at a law firm, where I will be putting my education into practice and gaining hands-on experience in the legal field. When I found out that I had been selected to receive this award, I truly screamed with joy. However, what this recognition means to me goes far beyond financial support. To me, this award represents belief, belief in my hard work, my dedication, and my potential. Knowing that someone saw something in me and chose to invest in my future means more than I can fully express. This award will greatly support my transportation needs during my practicum. My placement could be anywhere in the Lower Mainland, possibly even Vancouver, and having a reliable transportation will allow me to travel safely and reduce stress as I take this important step toward my career. Your generosity is not only easing a financial burden but also providing peace of mind during a pivotal time in my education. Thank you for believing in me and for supporting students like me.
