Jay EastonIt is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we inform you that IAFF brother, Jay Easton (45) passed away suddenly on the morning of June 2, 2015 while at Royal Columbian Hospital while recovering from a motor vehicle accident.

Starting his career with the Surrey Fire Service on July 23, 1996, Jay actively volunteered with the Surrey Fire Fighter’s Charitable Society, donating numerous hours to the betterment of this community. Jay was committed to his co-workers health and well-being, demonstrating this with his involvement in the Occupational Health and Safety Committee, the Sub Operations Committee, the Clothing Committee, the Apparatus Committee, Honour Guard, and the Union Finance Committee.   He was also a long serving member of the 1271 Executive Board and organized many softball events on behalf of the Local. Jay was a dedicated professional who always gave any task one hundred percent. He was known by his peers as a fire fighter who was full of life, spoke his mind and took the initiative on many tasks. Jay also found a new passion in the last couple of years for the IAFF Motorcycle Group. He will be missed by all of his friends and co-workers.

We shall remember Jay’s selfless caring nature and goodwill towards his IAFF brothers and sisters.

Our hearts and our prayers go out to Jay’s family and friends during this very difficult time.

We will publish service details as soon as we have any information.
