The Surrey Fire Fighters Charitable Society is pleased to support the following Charitable Organizations in the month of May 2015. Over $60,000 has been donated and invested right back into Surrey’s communities.
- Nutritional Snack Program: Monthly deliveries to over 100 schools, feeding over 2000 children who come to school hungry.
- Rec for Kids – Providing funding for bike helmets for those families and youth who cannot afford. Bikes are provided to individuals with recommendations from social services and police. Rec for kids will provide a voucher for the youth to redeem a helmet from a local cycling shop.
- Kinsmen Lodge – Lift Cases for Seniors
- Read to Babies Literacy Program – Surrey Library
- YMCA – YMCA Strong Kids Campaign
- Kidsport BC – Sponsor annual Golf Tournament, helping kids in Surrey with sport and recreation opportunities.
- Coastal Track Club – Supporting youth initiatives to stay in school and sports, organized by our own fire fighters.
- ALS Society – Equipment Loan Program – to provide equipment such as wheelchairs to people living with ALS at no cost
- The Kidney Foundation – Kidney Walk Campaign – making it possible to provide programs and services that help ease the physical, emotional and financial burdens kidney patients and their families carry while coping the kidney disease.
- Urban Mission – Summer Day Camp – The Mission offers programs to people in Surrey who struggle each day with poverty and homelessness
- Canadian Cancer Society – Ride to Live (Prostate Cancer) and 2015 Donation
- Surrey Food Bank – Donation to support low income neighbours with services and opportunities that make a difference in people’s lives.
- Surrey Fire Fighters CPR Program – to update equipment and offer services in kind to organizations such as Surrey Crime Prevention.
- Rotary Club of Semiahmoo – Sassy Award bursary
- City of Surrey Youth Development Grants
- Heart & Stroke – Big Bike Event
- BC Childrens Hospital – Slo-Pitch Event
- BC Wheelchair Basketball Society – Hoopfest 2015
